Celebrating CT

A Thanksgiving Service has been held in memory of Skewjack owner and surf pioneer, Chris Tyler, who died in November 2016, at the age of 78.

Chris, who lived the last years of his life in Bulgaria with his long term partner Bea, was active right to the point he was admitted to hospital. He was halfway through making a new picket fence, whittling the wooden stakes himself and preparing to put them up around their traditional cottage, when he was taken in.

The service at St Pol de Leon church in Paul was packed, people from all areas of Chris' life attending to say thank you and pay their respects. Music was played and poetry read with an opportunity to write messages in a book of remembrance, which everyone took the time to do.

After the service the memories continued to flow at The Old Coastguard in Mousehole – allowing friends who hadn't seen each other for years, maybe decades, to reminisce and raise a glass. People had travelled from all over Britain for the day – a fitting tribute to a man who was clearly greatly loved and respected.
